Anaheim Ducks fans will soon get a chance to get a closer look at one of their most recent first-round draft picks. Norwegian star Stian Solberg, selected 23rd overall by the Ducks last June, has been assigned from Swedish club Färjestad to the San Diego Gulls in the AHL.

The New Jersey Devils are dealing with some key injuries, including a season-ending surgery for Jack Hughes, but that hasn’t deterred them. They are still buyers and went out and paid a fairly steep price to the Anaheim Ducks for rental defenseman Brian Dumoulin.

Sweden has its team for the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship which begins Dec. 26 in Ottawa. Head coach Magnus Hävelid has announced the 24-player roster for the event led by Detroit Red Wings prospect Axel Sandin Pellikka, who will be playing in his third and final World Juniors.

Sweden has become one of the most reliable producers of NHL talent outside of North America. With some of the biggest clubs housing elite development systems, Swedish hockey players get high-end training from a young age and often filter up to the pro clubs at younger and younger ages now.
