As teams began the conference tournaments this past weekend, we witnessed them reach their top-tier women's college hockey levels.

Thomas Gale has been one of the nation’s top goaltenders all season, as the senior pairs his 15 wins with a .927 save percentage and 2.21 GAA. However, Gale has especially been on a roll of late, and the Quebec native was named the AHA Goaltender of the Month earlier this week.

Fall can’t start until hockey does, so it’s a good thing we’ve got Atlantic Hockey America action this weekend on FloHockey. The women’s college hockey season opens Sept. 21 with games across the country, including some of the AHA teams.

The 2024 College Hockey America Postseason is about to get rolling with No. 1 Penn State and No. 2 Mercyhurst hosting No. 4 RIT and No. 3 Robert Morris, respectively, in the semifinals this weekend. The winner of the CHA tournament earns the Robert DeGregorio cup as postseason champions and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Here come the Blue Hens! The University of Delaware announced Friday its plans to add a Division I women's ice hockey program to their athletic offerings starting in the 2025-26 season. The fledgling team will join College Hockey America, becoming the conference's seventh team and the 45th program in women's Division I hockey in the NCAA.

During the 2023-2024 college ice hockey season, there will be 64 NCAA Division I men’s programs across 21 states, led by New York and Massachusetts with 11 teams each.

Much like the Final Four in NCAA Basketball, the Frozen Four is a significant moment in the NCAA hockey season. It represents the four teams left standing in single-elimination rounds from a field of 16 to win their respective regions.
