As teams began the conference tournaments this past weekend, we witnessed them reach their top-tier women's college hockey levels.

Quinnipiac and Clarkson had a series against each other, and the game with the most scored goals would not be competitive, as Clarkson won 4-1 on Sunday.

Clarkson also won the day before on Saturday when they beat Quinnipiac for the first time, and that was a 2-1 game.

Wisconsin Blowing Through The Competition

  • The Badgers have been nearly unbeatable this season, with a spectacular 33-1-2 record and seemingly not breaking a sweat all year.
  • Both of the losses on the year have only come to Ohio State women's hockey, making for an excellent rivalry that could add another chapter, potentially in the finals of the conference tournament and/or the NCAA tournament.
  • Wisconsin outscored Bemidji State 20-1 in three games, including a 6-1 win on the last day of the regular season and two shutout wins in the first round of the WCHA conference.

UConn Reaches The Top 15

  • In the Hockey East Quarterfinals, the Huskies defeat Merrimack 4-0 to continue the momentum gained after defeating Boston University both games this weekend.
  • Winning the conference tournament would by far put UConn as one of the teams that are playing its best hockey at the right time.
  • Northeastern is the next opponent for the Huskies for the Hockey East semifinals on Wednesday.

Automatic Bids Up For Grabs

  • These conference tournaments are not just for bragging rights; they are also for automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament.
  • Coming into the season, every program has the goal of winning a national championship, and five teams out of an 11-team field get a free pass to the tournament.
  • All of these teams are chasing Wisconsin and Ohio State, who have won the last five national championships. The Buckeyes are the reigning champions, and in the last two title games, both programs have beat each other 1-0 to win it all.
