2022-23 ECHL Power Rankings

Extraordinary Run For Cyclones Lands Them Atop Rankings

The Cincinnati Cyclones have gone nearly two months without losing in regulation, putting together an extraordinary 19-0-1-1 mark since Feb. 5.

A new team has forced its way to the top of FloHockey’s very unofficial weekly ECHL power rankings – the Cincinnati Cyclones.

The Cincinnati Cyclones have gone nearly two months without losing in regulation, putting together an extraordinary 19-0-1-1 mark since Feb. 5.

They’re now in the No. 1 spot and continue to build momentum heading into the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

1) Cincinnati Cyclones (43-12-6-3) (Last Week: 3)

What else needs to be said, really?

Three games this past week against the Utah Grizzlies for the Cyclones, three road wins, including two six-goal performances.

2) Idaho Steelheads (51-9-1-2) (Last Week: 2)

The Steelheads have won nine straight games and have yet to suffer their 10th loss in regulation the season. Only three weeks remain.

Idaho pulled off a three-game sweep of its own this week, beating the Americans over the course of four nights in Allen.

3) Toledo Walleye (42-16-4-3) (Last Week: 1)

Still an absolute threat to win the Kelly Cup this year, Toledo drops two spots. The fall was more about the play of Cincinnati and Idaho, than from the Walleye losing twice this past week, including a rare setback at home against Reading.

4) Newfoundland Growlers (43-19-2-0) (Last Week: 4)

Still far and away the top team in the East, Newfoundland rebounded after a series-opening loss in Florida. The Growlers took the final two games against the Everblades to remain in the fourth spot in the rankings.

5) Indy Fuel (38-22-4-0) (Last Week: 6)

The Fuel have made the most of a difficult Central Division and move up a spot after taking three out of a possible six points this past week, splitting a two-game set at home against Kalamazoo.

6) Reading Royals (37-22-4-0) (Last Week: 9)

Reading is up three spots after taking two out of their three games this past week, including that impressive win over Toledo on Friday.

7) Greenville Swamp Rabbits (36-20-7-1) (Last Week: 7)

The Swamp Rabbits have quietly put together a very strong season and continued that over their last few games, featuring a shootout win against the Walleye on Sunday.

8) South Carolina Stingrays (37-21-4-1) (Last Week: 10)

The Stingrays played twice over the last seven days, splitting a two-game set with the Maine Mariners. South Carolina took the first game Saturday with a seven-goal offensive outburst.

9) Jacksonville Icemen (37-22-3-1) (Last Week: 5)

The Icemen had somewhat of a bizarre schedule this week, playing only on Thursday and Friday. They split those games, losing the finale in Orlando, 6-4.

10) Adirondack Thunder (27-26-8-2) (Last Week: 20)

Yes, that’s Adirondack at No. 10 by virtue of getting hot at the right time.

The Thunder have gone seven straight games without losing in regulation, which helped them climb to within three points of the Worcester Railers for the fourth, and final, playoff spot in the North Division.

The streak included three straight wins over the Railers this past week.
