USHL Power Rankings: Dubuque Tops Rankings
Writer Ryan Sikes provides his view on the league each month with our USHL Power Rankings.
Welcome to FloHockey’s monthly Clark Cup contender power rankings for the USHL. Find out which of the league's 16 teams rise and fall over the course of the long regular season.
1. Dubuque Fighting Saints / Previous Rank: 2
Record: 11-5-0-0
The Fighting Saints jumped to the front of our rankings this month.
Dubuque has gone 6-4-0-0 over its last 10 games and has been one of the hottest teams in the USHL, despite dropping its last two contests.
Gavin Cornforth (2025) is one of five skaters on Dubuque’s high-powered offense with at least 10 points. The Boston College commit has six goals and six assists through his first 16 games.
Added, Heikki Ruohonen (PHI) is making the jump to the U-Show look seamless, racking up 10 points thus far.
Dubuque gets Des Moines in a home-and-home series this weekend.
2. Lincoln Stars / Previous Rank: 1
Record: 11-5-0-0
You certainly could make a case for Lincoln retaining its spot atop the rankings this month.
The Stars have gone 6-4-0-0 over their last 10 games and continue to pair their offense with solid goaltending.
Jack Pechar is having a phenomenal start to the season, having accumulated 14 points in his first 16 games. Added, the Northeastern commit’s efforts were recognized with a well-deserved invite to participate in the 2024 World Junior A Challenge next month.
Lincoln travels to Chicago for a two-game road series against the Steel this weekend.
3. Waterloo Black Hawks / Previous Rank: 3
Record: 9-4-2-2
The Black Hawks hold firm in their position in our rankings, but it will be interesting to see where they land in the next installment, given their recent performance.
Waterloo has collected points in eight of its last 10 games and is tied with Lincoln atop the Western Conference standings.
The Black Hawks have been an offensive dynamo thus far, leading the league in goals scored (60).
Brendan McMorrow leads all Waterloo skaters with eight goals and has 12 points overall. The Denver commit is establishing himself as a solid re-entry candidate for the 2025 NHL Draft.
The Black Hawks host Tri-City for two next.

4. Muskegon Lumberjacks / Previous Rank: 10
Record: 9-3-2-1
Muskegon sees the biggest jump in the rankings, thanks to some outstanding play over the last month. The Jacks have won five games in a row and have collected points in eight of their last 10.
Tynan Lawrence (2026) returns to Muskegon’s lineup after standing out for Team Canada White’s gold-medal run at the 2024 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
The BU commit is tied for third in points (10) among USHL rookies.
Muskegon is in Sioux City for a two-game set against the Musketeers this weekend.
5. Madison Capitols / Previous Rank: 6
Record: 9-4-1-1
Madison saw its seven-game win streak and nine-game point streak end this past weekend. However, the Caps are 7-2-1-0 over their last 10 games and up one spot in our rankings.
Bobby Cowan has been a goal-scoring machine for the Capitols this season. The St. Thomas commit is up to nine goals, including three in his last four games.
Madison hosts the NTDP U17s this weekend.
6. Fargo Force / Previous Rank: 8
Record: 9-5-0-1
The Force have been playing some really good hockey over the last month and find themselves just three points out of first place in the Western Conference standings.
Defenseman Sam Laurila’s draft stock continues to rise as he showcases his offensive abilities each week. The North Dakota commit leads all USHL defensemen in points (15) and assists (13).
The Force host Green Bay for two games this weekend.

7. Sioux Falls Stampede / Previous Rank: 5
Record: 9-5-0-0
The Herd has won two straight and seven of its last 10 games.
Ethan Wyttenbach (2025) paces all USHL rookies with 16 points, fourth in the league overall.
Forward John McNelis is making his case as a re-entry candidate in next year’s draft, having accumulated nine goals and 13 points in 14 games thus far.
The Stampede have a home-and-home series with Omaha this weekend.
8. Sioux City Musketeers / Previous Rank: 4
Record: 8-6-0-1
The Musketeers have stumbled a bit lately, with just three wins in their last 10 games, but they sit just five points back of first place.
Giacomo Martino and Landen Gunderson are tied for the league lead with 20 points, with the latter recently seeing his 13-game point streak come to an end.
Goaltender Samuel Urban will look to get back on track after dropping his last two games, while nine combined goals.
The Muskies now host the red-hot Lumberjacks for two games.
9. Green Bay Gamblers / Previous Rank: 9
Record: 7-6-1-0
The Gamblers hold their position in this month’s rankings. However, Green Bay’s stock is rising after winning three straight and six of its last 10 contests.
Will Zellers (COL) has been as good as advertised, racking up eight goals and 11 points in only 10 games this season.
Added, Aidan Park is a solid re-entry candidate to keep close tabs on. The Michigan commit leads the team with 13 points.
The Gamblers are in Fargo this weekend.

10. Youngstown Phantoms / Previous Rank: 13
Record: 7-7-0-0
It felt like a matter of time, but the Phantoms are starting to find their groove.
Youngstown convincingly swept the Chicago Steel last weekend, and the Phantoms find themselves in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Youngstown still is looking for some consistency on offense, having scored the sixth-fewest goals (42) in the USHL thus far.
Adam Benak (2025) and Jack Hextall (2026) sure are fun to watch together. They lead the team with 10 points each.
Youngstown has a three-in-three this weekend, with two games against Cedar Rapids, before hosting the NTDP U18s on Sunday.
11. Tri-City Storm / Previous Rank: 14
Record: 6-7-2-1
Tri-City is up a few spots in our rankings and has points in five of its last 10 games.
Artemi Nizameyev is red-hot right now, having collected points in three of his last four games. The Miami (OH) commit has eight goals and 14 points overall.
The Storm will try to limit Waterloo’s high-powered offense this weekend.
12. Chicago Steel / Previous Rank: 7
Record: 6-9-2-0
The Steel had a tough weekend out in Youngstown and have dropped eight of their last 10 games.
Ashton Schultz (2025) will look to extend his five-game point streak. The North Dakota commit has eight points in 13 games overall.
Chicago hosts Lincoln for two games this weekend.

13. Omaha Lancers / Previous Rank: 15
Record: 5-9-2-0
The Lancers have cooled off since their initial surge after the coaching change. Omaha has gone 3-5-2-0 in its last 10 games and sits just two points out of last place in the standings.
Kam Hendrickson is a goaltender to keep close tabs on as a re-entry candidate in the 2025 NHL Draft. The UConn commit owns a 2.53 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage in nine games this season.
Omaha gets the Stampede in a home-and-home this weekend.
14. Cedar Rapids RoughRiders / Previous Rank: 12
Record: 5-8-0-1
Cedar Rapids continues to be dealt blows. Most recently, goaltender Rudy Guimond (DET) left the team in favor of the QMJHL.
The Rough Riders have gone 2-7-0-1 over their last 10 games and have scored the fewest goals (33) in the league.
The schedule does not offer any reprieve, with Cedar Rapids in Youngstown for two games this weekend.
15. Des Moines Buccaneers / Previous Rank: 16
Record: 5-9-0-0
The Bucs have won two straight but still find themselves in quite a hole.
Defenseman Richard Baran, who checked in as a fourth/fifth-round projection in Central Scouting’s Preliminary List, has been racking up points over the last month. The Arizona State commit leads the team with 11 points in 14 games.
Des Moines has a home-and-home with Dubuque next.
16. USNTDP / Previous Rank: 11
Record: 3-7-0-0
The NTDP returns to play after wrapping up some international competitions.
Mikey Berchild (2026) continues to impress. The Denver commit already has 16 points in 15 games, including four points (3-1-4) in the NTDP U17’s showing at the 2024 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
The U17s are in Madison for a two-game set this weekend. Meanwhile, the U18s host Augustana before traveling to Youngstown.
