The CHL has named its captains for this month’s CHL-USA Prospects Challenge as Porter Martone will wear the C and be joined by alternate captains Caleb Desnoyers, Blake Fiddler and Matthew Schaefer.

McKenna scored a highlight-reel goal in Canada’s semifinal 5-4 win over Sweden to notch his 16th point of the tournament, passing Tyson Jost and 2024 top prospect Macklin Celebrini for the most points by a Canadian at the IIHF Men’s World Under-18 Championship. Meanwhile, Martone posted two assists against Sweden, drawing even with McKenna while surpassing Celebrini and Jost himself.

Team USA has registered its final roster for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship with 20 skaters and three goaltenders.

GOTHENBURG, Sweden – New Year’s Eve is traditionally one of the biggest nights of the year at the World Junior Championship. Big rivalries, important games and memorable moments have been the norm and while Canada won’t have their traditional big NYE game, other teams will.

The 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship is setting up to be an absolute barn burner of a tournament. There’s a wide-open feel to the competitiveness with as many as five, possibly even six teams entering feeling like they have a chance to win the whole thing.

Before the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship has even begun, Canada’s had to shift its roster, particularly on the blue line. Hockey Canada announced Saturday that defensemen Ty Nelson and Jorian Donovan have been named to the team’s roster as previously-announced defensemen Tanner Molendyk (NSH) and Tristan Luneau (ANA) will not be able to participate for medical reasons.

Team USA’s preliminary roster for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship was announced Monday. On it, 29 players – 16 forwards, 10 defensemen and three goaltenders – were invited to the team’s pre-tournament camp that begins on Dec. 14.

The U.S. National Junior Team will take its first steps in preparation for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship in late July as USA Hockey announced the 44 players invited to the annual World Junior Summer Showcase. Two U.S. teams made up of candidates for the U.S. roster at the 2024 WJC will play against each other and teams from Sweden and Finland at USA Hockey in Plymouth, Mich., July 27-Aug. 4.
