Scoring consistently isn’t always an easy task in the USHL, yet it’s certainly seemed easy for Will Zellers this winter.

Zellers played one game during the 2022-23 campaign and had it not been for a late-season injury, he likely would’ve added more last spring. However, this is his first full USHL season, and the left-shot forward has been tremendous for the Green Bay Gamblers.

Zellers, who is a North Dakota commit, currently leads the USHL with 44 goals and his 69 points are tied for the league lead. However, his 1.44 points per game lead the way.

The Maple Grove, Minn., product currently owns a seven-game point streak, four-game goal streak and he’s recorded at least a point in 38 of his 48 contests this season. He’s only gone back-to-back games without a point just once.

Zellers has also etched his name in Green Bay’s history book, as he recently broke the franchise single-season goal record with his 42nd tally.

It’s been an exciting couple months for Zellers, both with the Gamblers and for his future. On top of preparing for college in Grand Forks, he recently had his draft rights traded at the NHL Trade Deadline.

Zellers was selected by Colorado in the third round (76th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft. However, he was sent to Boston alongside Casey Mittelstadt and a 2025 second-round pick, in exchange for Charlie Coyle. And the Zellers acquisition has already generated plenty of excitement within the Bruins fan base.

Zellers, who turned 19 on Friday, will try to stay hot as the Gamblers host Sioux Falls for a pair of games this weekend.

Green Bay is just 2-6-1-1 over its last 10, but the Gamblers currently sit fifth in the Eastern Conference with 56 points – one ahead of Cedar Rapids. Green Bay has four regular-season games remaining, including one against the RoughRiders. You can catch all the action right here on FloHockey.
