Team USA has registered its final roster for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship with 20 skaters and three goaltenders. 

Team captain and Winnipeg Jets prospect Rutger McGroarty, who did not appear in either pre-tournament game as he continued recovery from an injury sustained about five weeks ago, was registered for a roster spot indicating he will be ready to play.

Team USA head coach David Carle now has his group and the Americans will be among the favorites to win it all with a bevy of returnees, first-round picks and future NHL regulars.

McGroarty being healthy and registered for the tournament is a huge boost for Team USA. He was named the captain for the Americans and has been one of the emotional leaders of the age group for the last few years.

Anaheim Ducks prospect Carey Terrance and Dallas Stars prospect Aram Minnetian will be the extra players who can only be activated in the event of injury or illness forces Team USA to replace one of the rostered players. They are able to practice and participate in team activities, but cannot play in games unless they are replacing an injured or ill player. Once a player. is replaced on the roster, that player cannot return to tournament play.

There are still a few things to be decided for the tournament, like who ultimately earns the starting job in net. It is expected that both Trey Augustine and Jacob Fowler will get starts over the course of the preliminary round.

NOTE: This is Team USA's lineup as of its gold-medal game against Sweden, Jan. 5.
