BU Hockey, Quinn Hutson Advance To Frozen Four With OT Goal Vs. Cornell

Quinn Hutson’s overtime goal lifts BU hockey to a 3-2 win over Cornell, sending the Terriers to the 2025 Frozen Four in a thrilling NCAA Regional Final.

In a tense Toledo Regional Final, Boston University defeated Cornell 3-2 in overtime, earning a spot in the 2025 Frozen Four.

Quinn Hutson scored the game-winning goal in overtime, assisted by Ryan Greene and Shane Lachance. 

Cornell’s Ryan Walsh opened the scoring, but BU responded quickly with Matt Copponi’s goal. 

Cole Hutson then put the Terriers ahead late in the third period, only for Cornell’s Jack O'Leary to tie it up and force overtime. 

In the extra-frame, Hutson’s goal secured the win for BU. 

Goaltender Yegorov made key saves throughout the game, while Cornell’s Ian Shane kept his team in the hunt with several important stops.

Where is the 2025 Men’s Frozen Four?

St. Louis will host the 2025 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four at Enterprise Center, the home of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues.

How Does The NCAA Hockey Tournament Work?

  • At the beginning of the tournament, teams will compete across four regional sites in single-elimination games, with four teams standing at the end.
  • There are two games in the regional semifinals between these teams for a chance at the regional finals.
  • The winners of the four sites will then advance to the Frozen Four in St. Louis, MO.
  • From there, the two winners will compete for the grand prize in a national championship.
