For the third consecutive week (and the fourth time in six weeks), the Laval Rocket maintain their hold on the number-one spot in the AHL Power Rankings. A late-season run has the surging Colorado Eagles trying to chase down Laval before the regular season concludes April 20, however.
See where your favorite team stands based on the FloHockey AHL Power Rankings, and follow them throughout the season to see how your club rises or falls.
1) Laval Rocket (+1)
How good have the Rocket been? They limited Cleveland to all of 11 shots last Saturday in a 6-0 blowout victory. This weekend’s home match-ups with Toronto and Lehigh Valley will then take the Rocket into a season-long six-game trip out west.
2) Colorado Eagles (+1)
Averaging 4.08 goals per game in what has been a 10-2-0-1 stretch going back to Feb. 22 at Texas, the Eagles have emerged as one of the Western Conference’s truly elite threats. Mix this attack with the home-ice atmosphere that Eagles fans can provide, and Colorado could be a very difficult playoff opponent.

3) Texas Stars (+2)
Texas has stocked up on wins against Chicago this month, taking four of five meetings. The Stars swept a two-game weekend stop at Allstate Arena as Remi Poirier continues to rebound in net. He had a 43-save shutout last Friday and then a 27-save effort in another win.
4) Rochester Americans (+1)
A six-point gap has opened up on the Amerks for the North Division lead. If they are destined for a second-place finish, does that mean a Calder Cup Playoff match-up with Toronto? Cleveland? A second consecutive 3-in-3 weekend starts Friday.
5) Hershey Bears (-3)
A 5-0-0-1 start to the Bears’ franchise-record 10-game road trip started to sputter with a bad loss at Hartford and an overtime setback at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Their defeat in Hartford looked all too familiar as they could not match their opponent’s intensity. Stops at Bridgeport and Utica should provide a soft landing to wrap up this journey – so long as the Bears are engaged.
6) Providence Bruins (+2)
With eight consecutive games on the road in March, the itinerary could have gone bad very quickly following an 0-2-0-1 start to it. However, the P-Bruins rallied with 17 goals in their next three outings, all wins. A stop in Charlotte for two games will finally end this trip.
7) Ontario Reign (--)
A Central Division trek through Texas and Iowa finished 2-2-0-0, which may have closed off Ontario’s chances for the Pacific Division’s first-place spot. If so, that would come at a significant cost as it would force the Reign into a best-of-three opening playoff series.
8) Charlotte Checkers (+1)
The Checkers banged out a solid 4-2-0-0 road trip through the North Division. Right now they’re stuck in a jumbled playoff race for positioning with Providence and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as they try to secure home-ice advantage to open the postseason.
9) Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (-3)
Providence took apart the Penguins in a 10-2 game last Friday, though Wilkes-Barre/Scranton did rally with victories in the following two games to close out a busy weekend. Going south this weekend to Charlotte for two games, the Penguins will finish up a run of 15 games in 31 nights.
10) Milwaukee Admirals (+2)
First place in the Central Division is largely down to Milwaukee and Texas now, and there is a two-game trip down to Texas on April 5-6. But first the Admirals visit Henderson this weekend. They will be getting an opponent that is hanging in contention, but just barely. The Silver Knights caused some trouble last month in a pair of games at Milwaukee.
11) Abbotsford Canucks (+2)
Following four intense home games against rivals Bakersfield and Calgary, the AHL schedule gave the Canucks a bit of a reprieve with a pair of games at Manitoba. The Canucks got their two wins, and now it’s back to the Pacific Division for two crucial games this weekend at San Jose.
12) Toronto Marlies (-2)
After a pair of losses at Laval and Belleville last week, it’s back to those same two buildings again this weekend. The Marlies did salvage something from the week by taking the second half of their home-and-home series against the B-Sens, but now Cleveland is in close pursuit for third place in the North Division. Taking that third spot avoids having to play a best-of-three series.
13) Coachella Valley Firebirds (-2)
Having generated all of five goals in five games, the Firebirds broke out for four goals in a win this past Sunday at Calgary. Nikke Kokko has stepped in to take over the goaltending work and is getting key experience down the stretch.
14) Cleveland Monsters (+1)
Four losses in a row have put the Monsters’ playoff plans in much more precarious condition. With two games at Laval this weekend, this slide could grow significantly worse. Syracuse and Belleville combined with Cleveland’s recent struggles have made this a three-team race for two playoff spots
15) Syracuse Crunch (--)
Brandon Halverson’s recall to the Tampa Bay Lightning has come at an inopportune for the Crunch as they continue this playoff fight. All but two of Syracuse’s final 12 games will be against North Division opponents, including five against last-place Utica.
16) Calgary Wranglers (+2)
A weekend split against Coachella Valley is a start for the Wranglers, who had been on an extended March slide. They go on the road for four games, starting this Friday at Bakersfield. First place has faded out of view for the Wranglers, so the final 10 games will be about securing home-ice advantage for the first round.
17) Belleville Senators (--)
Belleville took a damaging loss at home to Cleveland this past Sunday afternoon. They can at least break even with a massive rematch against the Monsters at home Wednesday. Anything short of a regulation win would potentially leave the B-Sens with just the fifth-place spot to target realistically.
18) San Jose Barracuda (+4)
Andrew Poturalski and Danil Gushchin are taking over offensively and have put San Jose comfortably above the Pacific Division playoff line. Now it’s mainly down to playoff positioning for the Barracuda, who have a very difficult remaining 11 games to go.

19) Grand Rapids Griffins (-1)
Two games, two goals, two losses. That sums up the Griffins’ week.
20) Lehigh Valley Phantoms (--)
Lehigh Valley put up six goals on Milwaukee last Wednesday only to produce just one goal across their next two outings, home losses to Syracuse and Providence. The Atlantic Division top-four is likely out of Lehigh Valley’s grasp at this point.
21) Springfield Thunderbirds (-5)
The season is in danger of falling apart on the Thunderbirds, who have allowed 33 goals on this six-game losing streak.
22) Chicago Wolves (-1)
After starting a seven-game homestand with three victories, the Wolves dropped the remaining four contests. At this point, they are securely in a playoff spot, but the time to start playing playoff-level hockey is now.
23) Rockford IceHogs (+3)
Rockford’s net belongs to Drew Commesso. With two weekend games coming up with Manitoba, the IceHogs have a chance to all but put away a playoff spot and possibly overtake Chicago, their likely first-round opponent, for fourth place.
24) Hartford Wolf Pack (+5)
A challenging weekend schedule against two contenders ended up with the Wolf Pack capturing all four points to put themselves firmly back into the Atlantic Division playoff race. Dylan Garand’s work has been exceptional on many nights this season. A difficult five game trip opens Wednesday at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and may well determine Hartford’s postseason fate. That said, they do have three games still remaining against Bridgeport.

25) Tucson Roadrunners (-2)
After two solid wins against San Jose, the Roadrunners went to Colorado and surrendered 11 goals in a pair of losses. Their five-game road journey swings through Southern California this week. With three games to go against the Condors, their only likely pursuer at this stage of the season, the Roadrunners control their own fate.
26) Bakersfield Condors (-2)
San Jose bombarded the Condors with 14 goals in a home-and-home weekend series. And now the Condors have Wednesday’s home game against offensively potent Colorado up next.
27) San Diego Gulls (-2)
Taking just two out of six points last week is not nearly enough for the Gulls at this point.
28) Henderson Silver Knights (+1)
After a weekend split with San Diego, the Silver Knights have themselves within seven points of a Pacific Division. But as with San Diego, time is not cooperating. Three games against Bakersfield, one of the teams that Henderson is pursuing, remain on the schedule, but the Silver Knights also have Milwaukee visiting for a pair of games this weekend.
29) Iowa Wild (+1)
Iowa has picked up 18 goals in a four-game stretch, but the standings math is working against them at this point.
30) Utica Comets (-2)
Much like Henderson, just when it seemed like the Comets might pull off the improbable and put themselves into real contention for a playoff spot, they went out and lost three games in four nights. Now they have a 14-point gap between themselves and a playoff spot, the largest for any team in the AHL that has not yet been mathematically eliminated.
31) Manitoba Moose (-1)
A big win at Rockford last Wednesday led into a weekend against Abbotsford in which the Moose gathered just one of four points.
32) Bridgeport Islanders (--)
The Islanders just picked up their fourth win in 30 home games this season.
