2024 NHL Draft Top 10 Picks: Where Are They Now?

The 2024 NHL Draft was packed with elite talent, setting the stage for an exciting new generation of hockey stars including future Chicago Blackhawks, Calgary Flames, Seattle Kraken, and one current San Jose Sharks player named Macklin Celebrini.

Whether you're following the rise of Celebrini, the promising defenseman Artyom Levshunov, or the high-scoring talents like Beckett Sennecke and Berkly Catton, the future of the NHL is bright with these emerging stars.

As the first round selections begin to make their mark in the NHL and other leagues, fans and analysts alike are eager to track the progress of these highly anticipated prospects.

From NHL debuts to standout performances in junior leagues, the path of the top 10 draft picks is already unfolding in dramatic fashion.

In this article, we take a closer look at where the 2024 NHL Draft's top picks are now and how their early careers are shaping up.

NHL Draft Picks: Where Are The Top 10 2024 Round 1 Picks Now

#1. Macklin Celebrini ( C ) - San Jose Sharks

As the only player currently on an NHL line-up from this list, Macklin Celebrini has launched head-first into things earning at least 17 minutes on ice in each of his seven games.

Celebrini scored two goals in one game against the Minnesota Wild and has one goal on the St. Louis Blues. The first goal from his two-goal performance came off of a flipping puck right in front of the net off of a pass back-and-forth from Granlund—it tied the game 1-1. In the third period, San Jose was down 4-1 and Celebrini fired a snipe from the point to high glove side on Marc-Andre Fleury.

Most recently, on November 18, Celebrini scored the game-winner in overtime in a beautiful attacking move, weaving through three defenders and elevating the puck into the seven hole.

The Belarusian d-man has 23 shots on goal and 4 assists putting him ahead of all other Rockford defensemen. He assisted Frank Nazar with scoring a power play goal at the beginning of their game on Friday against the Manitoba Moose, a one-goal lead that would be enough to make up the difference by the end of three periods.

Yakemchuk earned 3 of his 7 goals in a scoring streak in mid-October when he netted one each against the Prince George Cougars, Red Deer Rebels, and Lethbridge Hurricanes.

His penalty time is a bit on the high side but one game against the Medicine Hat Tigers earned Yakemchuk 16 of those 18 minutes after a few roughing minors and a 10-minute misconduct at the conclusion of the 4-2 loss.
