A pair of Central Division rivals meet this Saturday in the FloHockey AHL Game of the Week (8 p.m. ET) when the Chicago Wolves visit the Rockford IceHogs.

The IceHogs can boast a deep mix of top prospects in their line-up, beginning with 19-year-old defenseman Artyom Levshunov. He went second overall in this past June’s NHL Draft to the parent Chicago Blackhawks and is getting his pro start in the AHL. Rockford also has a pair of 20-year-olds in defenseman Kevin Korchinski and forward Frank Nazar. Korchinski, who played last season with the Blackhawks, was the seventh overall pick of the 2022 NHL Draft. Nazar, coming off two seasons at the University of Michigan, followed to the Blackhawks six spots after Korchinski. Rockford has started 2-3-0-0.

After playing as an independent last season, the Wolves have reunited with the Carolina Hurricanes. The pairing won the Calder Cup in 2022, but the Wolves are off to a 1-4-1-0 start that has put them at the bottom of the Central Division. They have managed just eight goals through their first six games.

The FloHockey AHL Game of the Week will stream live and free across FloHockey's social media platforms. See below for details on how and where to watch, plus prospects analyst Chris Peters details some of the top prospects that are scheduled to compete in the game.

Chicago Wolves - What To Watch For

A pair of top rookies head the Chicago attack.

Defenseman Scott Morrow (2-1-3) brings elite skating ability and on-ice vision to the Chicago blue line and can be dangerous on his own at times. Bradly Nadeau, a 19-year-old forward, is 1-2-3 through six games. The 2023 first-rounder had 19-27-46 in 37 games last season at the University of Maine.

Having been an independent team last season, the Wolves have a nearly all-new line-up, and the early unfamiliarity has shown. Defensemen Domenick Fensore and Ronan Seeley are the lone returnees from last season’s Wolves club that failed to qualify for the Calder Cup Playoffs. The Wolves are also without goaltender Spencer Martin, who is on recall to Carolina following an injury to Frederik Andersen. With Martin in the NHL, the Wolves are going with an all-rookie goaltending tandem in Ruslan Khazheyev and Yaniv Perets.

Rockford IceHogs- What To Watch For

Coming off a two-game split last weekend at Manitoba, the IceHogs are coming off a quiet start to their schedule in which they have only played five games so far.

Colton Dach and Samuel Savoie are two other intriguing forward prospects that Blackhawks management has playing in Rockford. They join veterans in Brett Seney and Zach Sanford along with leading scorer Cole Guttman. Louis Crevier, Ethan Del Mastro, and Isaak Phillips are some of the other exciting young talent that join Korchinski and Levshunov on the Rockford blue line. The IceHogs also have experience at the position with Cavan Fitzgerald and Austin Strand, who were with the Wolves last season.

Goaltender Drew Commesso is in his second pro season and is looking to take a big step forward after a solid introduction to the pro game with Rockford.

Chicago Blackhawks Prospects To Watch From Chris Peters

Artyom Levshunov, D

The highest-drafted prospect in the AHL this season, among prospects, is going to have a lot of eyes on him. Levshunov has played in two games so far and looked mostly good after missing the first few weeks due to injury. As he gets himself up to game speed, the expectation is that he learns how to dictate pace at the pro level, carries pucks more and gets involved in the offense. He already has an assist under his belt and looks poised for big things as a young rookie.

Kevin Korchinski, D

The only way sending Kevin Korchinski back to the AHL after playing a full season was if he bought into the concept. By the looks and sounds of it, he has. Korchinski is getting critical reps as a top-pairing defenseman for the IceHogs, which is likely what he can be if he hits his projection for the Blackhawks. Chicago can let Korchinski over-bake a little bit after rushing him too soon last year. This is a re-set, not a demotion and should be viewed as an opportunity for Korchinski to get pointed in the right direction.

Frank Nazar, C

Nazar scored in his brief NHL stint last season and the expectations only got higher for him after that. While there was a chance he could have started with the Hawks, this path allows him to get more reps in the role he can potentially play at the NHL level. Getting as much ice as a No. 1 or No. 2 center in the AHL this season is only going to push Nazar forward after he had a breakout collegiate season last year.

Carolina Hurricanes Prospects To Watch From Chris Peters

Bradly Nadeau, RW

The Hurricanes decided to ink Nadeau to his first NHL deal after just one season in college hockey. One-and-done players are increasingly rate in the NCAA and Nadeau was a bit of a surprising one. That said, he has tremendous skill and has shown good wheels at the pro level as well. He has three points through six games. He's going to need more time to adjust to the physicality and grind of pro hockey, but the former BCHL star has nothing but time on his developmental timeline right now as it's early yet.

Scott Morrow, D

Morrow has been a good source of offense from the back end, which has traditionally been true of his game. The highly-skilled defenseman has always been able to move pucks and make plays. At the pro level, he's going to have to tighten things up defensively to find his way on Carolina's blue line in the not too distant future. The former UMass standout has plenty of time to get his pro legs under him, which could be a process for a lot of players with Chicago's young roster.

Felix Unger Sörum, RW

The Hurricanes were rightly very excited about Unger Sörum's development timeline after his very impressive 2023-24 season. He played pro all year in Sweden's top level with Leksands, was a top performer for the silver medalists at the World Junior Championship and made Sweden's vaunted men's national team for the 2024 IIHF Men's World Championship. He's off to a slow start with the Wolves with just one point so far, but Unger Sörum is an especially valuable two-way player who can help in many facets of the game thanks to his clear versatility.
