Night 2 of the AHL season, and the first Saturday action of the 2024-2025 campaign, saw two shootout wins, a banner raising and multiple hat tricks. 

The Hershey Bears beat the Cleveland Monsters as they rose their 13th AHL championship banner. After trailing early, the Bears exploded late in the 7-3 win.

The game of the night, and possibly the weekend, came in Wilkes-Barre Scranton as the Charlotte Checkers and the Penguins combined for 13 goals as the Checkers won 7-6. 

Meanwhile, the Syracuse Crunch and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms won the first two shootouts of the season about 30 minutes apart from one another.

Here's a snippet of what he had to say about the Hershey Bears going into tonight's game, "Much of the Hershey core has returned, starting with the Hunter Shepard-Clay Stevenson goaltending tandem. A deep back end headed by veterans Aaron Ness and Chase Priskie along with Hardy Haman-Aktell and Vincent Iorio are as good as any in the AHL."

Williams said this on the Cleveland Monsters, "on the other side of the ice will be a dramatically reshaped Cleveland roster. Defensemen Jake Christiansen and David Jiricek have stuck with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Captain Brendan Gaunce is now with Iowa."
