The Toronto Marlies will start their season Oct. 12-13 with a two-game visit from the San Diego Gulls

The Marlies, a name with a history that began in the late 1800s, play their home games at the Coca-Cola Coliseum. The franchise itself was born in 1978 and nomadically changed names and locations a handful of times before settling into Toronto as the Marlies in 2005.

In 2023, the Marlies were 34-26-10-2 and the last of the five teams from the seven-team American Hockey League North Division to advance to the Calder Cup Playoffs. They were defeated in the first round by the Belleville Senators, 2-1.

The Marlies are affiliated with the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have been part of the NHL since its inaugural season of 1917. The Maple Leafs are second all-time in Stanley Cup championships with 13 (in 21 opportunities). The Montreal Canadiens top the list with 24.

Amazingly, the last time the Maple Leafs played for the title was 1967, which they won.

From 1917 until the 1925-1926 season, the NHL only included teams from Canada.

The Marlies have carried the torch as the primary development team for the Maple Leafs and have seen more than 80 players dress for the Leafs.

Since their relationship began, the Marlies have won seven division titles, two conference championships and the ultimate prize in the AHL – the Calder Cup – for the first time in 2018.

Here’s are the details about the Toronto Marlies and their schedule for the 2024-2025 AHL season.
