The Ottawa Senators selected Carter Yakemchuk as the No. 7 Pick in the NHL Draft 2024 on June 28 at the Sphere in Las Vegas. 

 Yakemchuk was a defenseman for the Calgary Hitmen in the WHL last season.

To many it was shocking that Yakemchuk went seventh overall, according to FloHockey mock draft he was not projected to go until after the top 10.
