The San Jose Sharks selected Macklin Celebrini in the 2024 NHL Draft with the first pick. 

Celebrini was the clear consensus first pick when it came to pre-draft prospect rankings and mock drafts, including Chris Peters' final mock draft and his prospect rankings going back to February.

The Sharks finished last in the NHL standings in 2023-24, which gave them the best odds to win the first pick in the NHL Draft 2024. This was their first-ever No. 1 pick in franchise history. 

The last time the San Jose Sharks were in a Stanley Cup, Celebrini was 10 years old. They lost in six games to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The former Boston University will be key for the San Jose Sharks as they rebuild their roster with youth.
