University of Maine Hockey (23-11-2) enters the NCAA Tournament as the No. 5 team with national championship hopes after a 12-year absence from the tournament. 

Looking to spoil the Black Bears vibes is Cornell Hockey (21-6-6), the No. 12 team in the field returning to the tournament for the second year in a row.

Maine last went to the tournament in 2012 and last won the national championship in 1999. They were runner-ups in 2004, the last time they reached the Frozen Four. For Cornell, the Big Red last won the national championship in 1970 hasn't reached the Frozen Four since 2003. 

The two teams begin their Frozen Four journeys in Springfield, Massachusetts at 5:30 p.m. on March 28. Here's what to know.

Maine went 14-9-1 in Hockey East Conference play and lost to Boston University 4-1 in the Hockey East Tournament.

Cornell went 12-6-4 in the ECAC and beat rival Harvard twice, 4-3 and 4-1, in the ECAC Hockey Championship. They went on to beat St. Lawrence University 3-1 in the conference championship game.
