Allen Americans, Idaho Steelheads Game 2 Postponed
Shooting at nearby outlet mall leads to postponement of Game 2 in interest of public safety. Details on rescheduling the game will be announced later.
Saturday night’s previously-scheduled Kelly Cup Playoffs contest between the Allen Americans and Idaho Steelheads was postponed as a public safety precaution amid an emergency situation in Allen, Texas earlier in the day.
According to multiple reports, a gunman opened fire at the Allen Premium Outlets, which is less than a mile from the Credit Union of Texas Event Center, the Americans’ home arena. Multiple casualties have been reported. With the investigation ongoing, it was determined that the game should not be played.
According to sources, the Idaho Steelheads were staying at a hotel near the Allen Premium Outlets. A team spokesperson confirmed that all players and staff were safe and accounted for.

According to a statement released by the ECHL, updates regarding the rescheduling of the game will be announced at a later time.
The two teams were slated to play Game 2 of their Central Division final series at 7:05 p.m. CT at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center. The series was due to shift to Idaho for Games 3-6 with Game 7 back in Allen if necessary.
